Road Run – 80/2024: Embracing the Rain with Interval Training

Today’s run turned out to be an invigorating adventure. With rain and a cool 17°C temperature, it felt like the perfect setting for interval training. Having just returned from a trip, this run was exactly what I needed to get back into the groove. After a few days of intense driving, not enough sleep, and crapy Sunday’s long run, my body was craving a good workout, and this run delivered just that.

Interval Training: A Refreshing Challenge

Today’s plan was clear: 5 intervals of 7 minutes at my 5k pace, with 2.5 minutes of recovery in between. Intervals are a fantastic way to build speed and endurance. Running at a higher cadence than usual felt surprisingly efficient. It was like running faster with the same energy, which is a win in my book! Each interval pushed me, but it was the kind of challenge that makes you feel alive and invigorated.

The Joy of Running in the Rain

Starting off, the rain was a welcome companion. The cool drops felt refreshing and kept my body temperature in check. The rain continued steadily throughout the run, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Running through the city, I could see people hurrying to their jobs, while I was soaking in the experience, feeling like time had slowed down just for me.

Nature’s Symphony in the Park

As I reached the park, the steady rain created a beautiful ambiance. Ducks were waddling around, and the birds were singing, creating a natural symphony. The sound of raindrops falling on the leaves above was magical, making this part of the run truly special. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love running so much—it’s not just about the physical exercise but also about connecting with nature and finding peace.

Reflecting on the Run

Reflecting on the run, I realized how much I enjoyed the mix of urban and natural scenery. The park offered a much-needed break from the city’s hustle and bustle. The intervals were challenging, but they made me feel strong and capable. Even though I was tired from the weekend and not fully rested, the run felt rejuvenating and set a positive tone for the rest of the week.
