Just wrapped up a dynamic Fartlek session: 10x 1 min of fast running at 1k pace and 10x 2 min of slow running at half-marathon pace. I never used to like intervals and Fartlek, but prepping for my first half-marathon changed that. Now, I’m hooked!
Weather and Conditions
It was one of those unpredictable weather days – cloudy with a few meatballs (yes, like the movie!). The rain came and went, the sun made brief appearances, and the wind was as erratic as ever. Despite the elements, the run was invigorating. The challenge of adapting to the changing weather made it all the more exciting.
The Run
Laced up my trusty Asics Novablast 4s today. After a month in my race-day shoes, it felt like running on trampolines. Pure joy! The combination of fast and slow intervals pushed my limits and kept my heart rate up. Each burst of speed felt like flying, and the slower intervals gave me just enough recovery to go hard again.
Post-Run Reflection
As I finished the run, I felt a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration. The heavy legs from the final few intervals were a testament to the hard work put in. The combination of weather, pace changes, and sheer determination made this run one to remember. It’s days like these that remind me why I love running – the freedom, the challenge, and the sense of achievement.

Final Thoughts
Today was another step forward in my running journey. Fartlek sessions are becoming a favorite as they push me out of my comfort zone and make each run unique. Keep pushing your limits, adapt to the conditions, and enjoy every step. Happy running!
Next up: convincing my legs that this is all part of the fun! 😂
